Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders were challenged last
year in a effort to complete Mrs. Tobin’s College Assignment. The assignment
was simple – draw a college from the bin, and then do a slideshow telling about
it. The rules were no plagiarism, it has to have images, and at least 10
slides. After you finished that you to email different offices and people from
your college asking for a souvenir. There was a mad scramble to collect data
and images and make it look as presentable as possible.
The
grades had all kind of colleges from little ones to nationally renowned big ones.
At the end, when all the grading was done, students sent out the emails asking
for the souvenirs and items representing their respective school. By the end of
the assignment, Mrs. Tobin had proudly collected posters, flags, and foam
fingers. As a participant of this assignment I can say it was quite interesting
learning what college has to offer. Mrs. Tobin mentioned to me earlier that she
would be having the new sixth grade class do the project this year. I can only
wish them the best of luck.
