We have just completed The Last Book in the Universe
by Rodman Philbrick and are ready for the challenge: How would you write your
book, AND what activity would you chronicle?
This summer, returning 8th graders are able to either A) read
all three summer reading assignments: use one for a test, one for a newspaper,
and one for the first extra credit book report, OR, B) read only two books: one
for a test and one for the first extra credit book report, and complete this
project. Your choice.
This weekend, sit down with your
family and friends, and figure out:
1. a cause
2. when to do it
3. and what you and your family can do to get it done
Remember, your job is to find a
deserving person or organization to make a positive impact in the biggest way
possible. I’m looking for examples
of LEADERSHIP, CREATIVITY, PRESENTATION, and ACCOMPLISHMENT.
Return to school on August 30 with a
display board that chronicles your adventure. Include pictures, a description of
your task, and the outcome that will explain this a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to do something important and make a real difference. If there’s anyone who can, it’s you. YOU are the change we wish to see in
this world. So, go. Go and change the world!
